The State Chairman’s Newsletter is a publication written by the current Wisconsin Wrestling Federation (WWF) State Chairperson. Each newsletter will keep members up-to-date on the business and events of the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation.

The Wisconsin Wrestling Federation is hosting several tournaments this year, our spring and summer schedules are full. On March 14th we will host the Tour of America event at the Woodside Sports Complex in Wisconsin Dells. Dominate in the Dells has become a large event and we are once again looking for a great turnout, this year’s event is one week earlier in March and does not conflict with the NCAA’s and high school athletes are eligible to compete.

On March 21st the State Qualifiers will be held in the eight regions, weigh ins are the night before on March 20th, several regionals have satellite weigh ins locations, check the WWF webpage for locations and details.

Our Kids State Folkstyle Tournament will be at the Alliant Center on Friday and Saturday, March 27 and 28, 2015. This event requires that all coaches must have a USA Wrestling Membership to be eligible to coach mat side. The top two from the qualifiers can participate in the state event and alternates will be called when there are openings.

Once again we will hold the Freestyle and Greco-Roman State Championships in Wisconsin Dells. The champions in the Cadet and Junior level will automatically have a spot on the National Team to Fargo. Schoolboys will have a chance to make the Wisconsin Team for competition at Northern Plains in Illinois in June and the Asics Kids Nationals in July at the Woodside Sports Complex. Those individuals will have opportunities to train together with the Wisconsin coaches and travel together. All members are eligible to compete in both the Northern Plains and Nationals as individuals regardless of their place or participation in the Freestyle/Greco Roman tournaments.

As I write this article we are a few short days away from the first ever JV Challenge Tournament. This event is managed by the WWCA and WWF and sponsored by Asics and All-American Wrestling Supply. These organizations are looking forward to great success and intend to continue with the event for years to come.

Best wishes to all wrestlers, coaches and fans as the High School season progresses into the tournament series. Yours in Wrestling, Dave Black
