This tournament is open to any wrestlers that wrestled at any of the eight WWF Folkstyle Regional tournaments on Saturday, March 10th that did not qualify for the WWF Kid’s Folkstyle State Tournament in Madison. We will be using full mats with WIAA certified referees. This will be a quality tournament at a quality venue for those that did not make the state tournament.
This is a pre-registration tournament only. Wrestlers must register online on www.trackwrestling.com by midnight (12:00 AM) Tuesday, March 13th or mail in the pre-registration form before Monday March 12. Tournament flyer & registration forms will be available at the regionals or you can view and print one by clicking the link above.
Weigh-ins will be Sunday morning from 7:00 am – 8:00 am and wrestling will start around 9:00 am.
Proof of birth year and USA Wrestling cards will be checked ahead of time from regional information.
Custom medals given to the top 6 place finishers in each age and weight group.
As at the regionals WIAA mat rules will apply here, with one exception. The time periods are one minute periods for the youngest three age groups and one and a half minute periods for the oldest group as at the state tournament. There are only 15 minutes of rest required between matches.
All WIAA rules with the exception of time-limit per period will be enforced. The mouth guard rule will be enforced with a penalty applied if a contestant has braces or any mouth apparatus and fails to have a mouth guard. A one-point penalty will be applied along with injury time of one minute thirty seconds will start. If a mouth guard is not secured in that period of time, the wrestler will be disqualified. This rule has been enforced by the WIAA for two years.
Please note that these rules are specific to the WIAA handbook and will be enforced by the officials at this tournament.
There is no separate girls division so any girls that did not qualify for the state tournament may wrestle in the boys divisions.
Any 3rd place finishers that are called to fill spots at the state tournament may not wrestle in this tournament. Anyone who registered for this tournament and then was called for the state tournament will receive a refund.
