Wisconsin 14U Greco Wins Bronze/Copper Pool at National Duals, 16U Places 8th Overall

USA Wrestling’s National Duals are a staple during the Freestyle and Greco season. Indiana is hosting this season’s 14U and 16U divisions from June 10-13th, the 14U are in Franklin and 16U in Westfield. Greco wrestlers hit the mats first, competing both Thursday and Friday. 

Wisconsin’s 14U Greco team started in Pool B on day one and ended up placing 1st in the Bronze/Copper pool on day two. The boys had a tough opener, dropping the match versus the Oklahoma Outlaws Red team (L47-34), but stormed back immediately with a material win over Kansas Blue, W72-3. They added another win over Idaho (W50-31) before dropping a rematch with Oklahoma Outlaws Red, L41-35 in Pool B’s third-place matchup. The boys were all-around victorious as they navigated the Bronze/Copper Pool. They finished day one with a win over Ohio Gray (W54-29), and then continued through all of day two with a string of successes over Indiana Gold (W50-35), Tennessee (W53-28) and California (W43-39) in the first-place matchup. In total, Wisconsin pulled together a 6-2 dual record. 

INDIVIDUAL MATCH RESULTS - > 14U GRECO

The 16U Greco team finished 8th overall with a dual record of 3-5. Wisconsin came out strong on day one with a second-place finish in Pool D, advancing them into the Gold/Silver Pool. To get there, the boys defeated Texas Blue (W68-11) and Nebraska (W63-18) before falling to California, L42-35. Wisconsin notched another win over Georgia Blue in the true-second matchup in Pool D. The Gold/Silver pool proved a tough team challenge, however, and the team suffered overall losses to the Oklahoma Outlaws Blue (L55-20), Illinois (L43-30), Pennsylvania Blue (L44-32) Idaho (L51-28).
