Wisconsin 14U and 16U Freestyle Teams Place 8th and 9th Overall at National Duals

The 14U and 16U teams earned a combined 11-5 dual team record

The Schoolboy and Cadet divisions of USA Wrestling’s National Duals is wrapped up after an extended weekend in Indiana. Team Wisconsin’s 14U and 16U Freestyle teams placed 8th and 9th overall, respectively. 

The 14U boys started out with a substantial win over Kansas Red, W59-19 before taking on Virginia in the semis, W57-27. They went on to defeat Florida (W44-36) to take Pool C's true-second spot after a loss to Minnesota Red 53-30 in the finals matchup. The boys finished day two in the Gold/Silver pool with a win over California (W43-37) before battling with Iowa (L50-33), Oklahoma Outlaws Red (L42-42) and Illinois (L44-42). The 14U team posted a 4-4 record.

INDIVIDUAL MATCH RESULTS -> 14U FREESTYLE

The 16U freestyle team started their day with a material win over Texas Blue (W72-6) before battling Pennsylvania Blue, dropping the matchup by just two points, L39-37. They advanced to the Bronze/Copper pool after claiming wins over Minnesota Red (W51-20) and Indiana Blue (W52-23) to place third in Pool C. The 16U boys continued their win streak with a W57-21 victory over Oklahoma Outlaws Red in the Bronze/Copper pool and went on to place 9th overall, winning the Bronze/Copper pool. The boys secured team wins over Idaho (W52-20), Colorado (W49-23) and Florida (W48-27), earning an impressive 7-1 dual team record for the weekend.

Team Wisconsin will be on the road again this upcoming week as the Junior boys and girls head to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the Junior divisions of USA Wrestling’s 2021 National Duals.
