The last few weeks have been full of traveling and competition for the Olympic-style wrestlers in Wisconsin. After back-to-back-events this spring, our teams are in the summer stretch of the 2021 season. That means starting out with National Duals. The Schoolboy and Cadet Freestyle and Greco teams competed in Indiana last week and the Junior divisions just wrapped up in Tulsa, Okla. over the course of the last four days.

The Wisconsin Women’s Freestyle team sewed together a 5-3 dual team record and placed 8th overall out of 21 teams. They received a first-round bye on the opening day before taking on Missouri 1 in the semis. The ladies battled their way through the lineup, picking up 7 wins, but were hit hard by 3 forfeits in the upper weights making the final outcome a close loss, L35-30. The ladies advanced to the Bronze/Copper pool after placing 4th in Pool C. They defeated Pennsylvania Red (W41-14) in the consolation semis and battled Minnesota Storm, L31-29. The first matchup in the Bronze/Copper pool was versus Colorado, L44-22.

After a 1-3 record on day one, the ladies regrouped and hit the mats hard on day two going undefeated, and even picking up a rematch win over Minnesota Storm, W32-30. Other wins for the team were in matchups versus Indiana (W39-31), Texas White (W46-15) and Oklahoma Outlaws, W40-21.
