National Duals: 16U Greco places 10th overall, 14U Greco advances to Bronze/Copper Pool

Team Wisconsin is competing this week at USA Wrestling’s 16U and 14U National Duals in Loves Park, IL and Indianapolis, IN. Both age groups started with the Greco-Roman divisions.

Wisconsin’s 16U Greco team placed 10th overall. The team started in Pool A, where they put together a 2-2 team performance on day one. They earned a first-round win over Nebraska (W51-27) before dropping a matchup with Colorado, L44-35. On the consolation side of the bracket, the team defeated Texas Red (47-27) to advance to the third-place match where they lost a tight dual versus Georgia Blue, L40-38. Their 4th place finish in Pool A advanced them to the Bronze/Copper Pool, which is where they began day two. Wisconsin went on a tear in the bronze/copper pool, winning three straight duals versus Michigan Blue (W42-29), Idaho (W46-31) and Florida (W39-38) before the final placement match with Missouri, L46-27. The team earned 2nd in the bronze/copper pool, 10th place overall, and a combined 5-2 dual record over the course of two days.

The 14U Greco team is competing in Indianapolis. After a tough opening match with Illinois (L45-32), Wisconsin went undefeated in four duals to place 3rd in Pool A. They put together substantial wins over Texas (W50-31), Alabama (W70-13), Michigan Red (W80-7) and then secured a close win over the Oklahoma Outlaws Red team (39-37). Wisconsin's performance in Pool A advanced them to the bronze/copper pool where they started with a win over Minnesota Thunder, W48-32. The boys start day two of competition (Friday) with a matchup versus Maryland and then Tennessee before the final placement round.

16U freestyle will compete Friday and Saturday. Wisconsin Red is in Pool D and Wisconsin Blue begins in Pool B. All of the matches are streamed live on FloWrestling.
