NATIONAL DUALS — In Indianapolis, our 14U Greco-Roman team placed 10th overall with an outstanding 7-2 dual team record. After winning five duals yesterday, they strung together two more wins over Maryland (W49-31) and Tennessee (W50-37). They fell to Minnesota Storm in their final placement match, L59-20.

The first day of 16U freestyle competition was contested today in Illinois. Team Wisconsin has two full rosters competing in the freestyle division with a Red and Blue team. Wisconsin Red earned first place in Pool D. The team had three consecutive wins—over Nebraska (W66-11), Oklahoma Blue (W48-25), and Minnesota Blue (W42-29)—and advanced to the Gold/Silver pool. In the opening round, they added another big win over Iowa, W39-34.

Our 16U Blue team placed 5th in Pool B and advanced to the Red/Blue Pool. Their wins in Pool B were over Kentucky (W55-22), Arkansas (W77-6) and Minnesota Red (W66-9), and their two losses were from the Pool B champions, California (L41-32) and then Missouri Red (L55-21). Wisconsin Blue defeated Kansas Blue in the first round of the Red/Blue pool this evening, W40-36.

Earning recognition and a place on USA Wrestling’s 16U Greco National Duals All-Tournament Team (going undefeated, with at least five wins) were Declan Koch and Tristan Steldt.

Wrestling continues Saturday morning with the final day of freestyle in the 16U division, and freestyle for our 14U team.

Congratulations and good luck to our teams as they fight for National placements!
