Below are highlights and key dates for the month of December.
Sanctioned Events
The WWF online calendar is updated with sanctioned events for the 2022-23 season as they are submitted. Please submit event flyers if you would like them posted online. The WWF website tournament pages are updated with 2023 information for the Kids Folkstyle State Qualifiers, Kids Folkstyle State, Kids Team State, and Freestyle and Greco State. Below are sanctioned events for the month of December. If the calendar is showing up blank please follow the steps here.
WFS Camp Updates
The next camp in our women’s freestyle (WFS) monthly series is Sunday, December 11th, at Holmen High School. Register for camp here; more information is posted online. The camps have had a great turnout, and we hope to see you in December!
WI x Team USA Highlights
Brynn Engel (WFS 33KG) wrestled in Columbia at the U15 Pan Ams in November. Because there were no other competitors at 33 kg, Engel won gold and also competed at 36 kg, where she earned a silver medal.
The Freestyle World Cup, the annual international dual-meet championships, will be December 10-11 in Coralville, Iowa. The top five countries to qualify for the Men’s Freestyle World Cup include the United States, Iran, Japan, Georgia, and Mongolia. The top five countries for the women’s teams are Japan, the United States, China, Mongolia, and Ukraine. Wisconsin native Alyssa Lampe and WWF coach Ronna Heaton are on the WFS roster for the United States. Learn more about the World Cup here.
