Wisconsin wrestlers had a strong showing at Kids Folkstyle Nationals, with six wrestlers bringing home national titles! Congratulations to Cameron Allen, Ari McKenna, John Reimer, Everett Zeitler, Elias Green, and Marissa Zeitler on their championship performances.

Below, you'll find key updates for February, including sanctioned events, 2025 State Series details, coaching credential requirements for Kids State and the Qualifiers, Kids Nationals results, and USA Wrestling’s 2025 team selection criteria. Read on for the latest!

 

Sanctioned Events in WI (current Feb)
Hosting an event? Sanction it directly in the membership system (select here to learn more), or submit a completed application to sanction an event form to Sandy Russell. After that, send us your flyer and we’ll post it online!

 

2025 WWF State Series

Coaching Credentials at WWF Kids Qualifiers and State
The top three wrestlers in each age group and division at the Kids State Qualifiers compete at the WWF Kids Folkstyle State Championships!

  • Coaching Credentials at Qualifiers: A current USA Wrestling Leaders membership is required to be matside at the WWF Kids State Qualifiers on March 22nd— this includes parents, club coaches, etc. Please allow 7-10 business days for the background check process, as USA Wrestling Leaders Memberships will not be available on-site.
  • Coaching Credentials at State: A current USA Wrestling Leaders membership and a Copper Coaches Certification or higher is required to be matside at the Kids State Championships— this includes parents, club coaches, etc. Please allow 7-10 business days for the background check process, as USA Wrestling Leaders Memberships will not be available on-site.
  • Table Workers: The WWF is looking for clubs or individuals to work mat side tables keeping score at the WWF Kids Folkstyle State Championships March 28th-30th at the Alliant Center in Madison, WI. The pay is $150 per table per day on Friday and Saturday and $125 on Sunday. Interested parties should contact Jeff Jones at jeffjones99@att.net.

 

NCAA Adds Women’s Wrestling as Championship Sport
In January, NCAA Divisions I, II, and III voted women’s wrestling the 91st championship sport! This widely celebrated milestone advances women’s wrestling from the NCAA Emerging Sports for Women program to become a national collegiate championship. Collegiate women compete in freestyle at both NCAA and NAIA institutions. Read the press release here.

 

Greco-Roman Training Camps
Registration is live for the Greco-Roman training camp series! Camps will be held on March 16th (Crass Trained in Loyal), April 13th (X-Factor Elite at Green Bay Preble HS & Combat WC), and May 31st (at Ringers & LAW). Select here to register.

 

Team USA Selection Process
USA Wrestling’s qualifying procedures for the men’s and women’s Age Group Pan American and World Teams has been updated for 2025. Read through the details for each age group and division

WI x USA Wrestling Highlights
