USA Bracketing Demo
Kids Folkstyle State Qualifiers: March 22nd at various locations.
The WWF Kids Folkstyle State Qualifiers are hosted at 8 locations across Wisconsin on March 22nd and the top 3 athletes in each age group/division and weight class qualify to compete at the Kids Folkstyle State Championships the following weekend!
- NEW: All Kids State Qualifiers will use USA Bracketing.
- Wrestlers may compete at any of the qualifier locations.
- Pre-registration for any of the Qualifier Sites is available on usawmembership.com through March 19th for $25. Registration will remain open through Friday night weigh-ins at satellite and onsite locations during the weigh-in times for $40.
- All qualifiers have Friday night weigh-ins onsite (5:30-7:30pm) and at satellite locations (5:30-6:30pm). Satellite weigh ins must be done for the respective tournament site; weight class will be determined during weigh-ins.
- All qualifiers will have flighted start times: wrestling starts Saturday at 8:30 AM for boys in born 2014-15 and born in 2016-17 and all girls age groups. Wrestling starts no earlier than noon for boys born in 2010-11 and 2012-13.
- Qualifiers follow WIAA guidelines; wrestlers must wear headgear and mouthguard, and scoring will include changes like the 3-point takedowns and nearfall points consistent with the WIAA rules.
- ALL coaches must have a current USA Wrestling card, which requires advanced passing of a national-level background check and SafeSport training. Coaches are encouraged to get this done ASAP as it takes 7-10 business days for USA Wrestling to complete the background check process, as USA Wrestling Leaders Memberships will not be available onsite. Select here to get your USAW Leaders card.
- Complete details for the Kids State Qualifiers, including contact information and satellite weigh-in sites for each district are posted online here.

WWF Kids Folkstyle State Championships: March 28th-30th in Madison.
The largest event in our state series is the WWF Kids Folkstyle State Championships, which is hosted at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison! We look forward to hosting every single year as it provides the opportunity for more than 2,000 youth wrestlers to take the mats and experience a championship environment here in Wisconsin.
- Registration costs $50 if done online by midnight Tuesday, March 25th, or $75 at the door. Click here to register beginning 3/22.
- Qualifier names with their clubs will be posted online on March 22nd—parents/coaches need to verify the spelling of athletes' names and club associations and submit changes by midnight Sunday, March 23rd.
- All qualifiers must make the same weight class at the State Championships that they qualified for at the Qualifier; there is no weight allowance at the state tournament.
- Biggest change from 2024: Only competitors and coaches that hold the credential requirements outlined for state below will be allowed on the competition floor. Parents will no longer be allowed to escort athletes to their mat.
- Printed Passes: Please ensure a profile photo is uploaded in the USAW membership system for wrestlers by midnight Tuesday, March 25th so they have their picture on their competitor floor pass. Select here for a tutorial on how to upload your profile photo. Coaches are required to have a photo uploaded to get on the floor.
- The State Championships will follow WIAA guidelines; wrestlers must wear headgear, and scoring will include changes like the 3-point takedowns and nearfall points consistent with the WIAA rules. Brackets will be built using the matrix.
- Coaching Credentials at State: All coaches are required to have a coaches pass, a current USA Wrestling Leaders membership and a Copper Coaches Certification or higher to be matside at the Kids State Championships—this includes parents, club coaches, anyone escorting athletes on the competition floor, etc. Please allow 7-10 business days for the background check process, as USA Wrestling Leaders Memberships will not be available on-site.
- Coaches Passes: (required) for state are available for purchase (click here) in the USAW Membership System now through March 25th for $20. Coaches must have a profile photo uploaded and approved by USA Wrestling to their USAW profile for the printed pass. If a coach misses the Tuesday deadline, they may continue to purchase a coaches pass until Thursday midnight for $50. If purchasing onsite, coaches may be delayed getting matside until the pass has been processed and approved by USA Wrestling. Passes are good for all sessions.
- Kids State Patches & Jackets are available to commemorate the 2025 WWF State Championships! Click here to order by Tuesday, March 25th; items will be available for pickup at the state tournament.
