We’re kicking off the new month by celebrating an action-packed June—and gearing up for Fargo in just two weeks! From National Duals to Final X, Kids Nationals, and final Fargo prep, the last few weeks flew by.
Fargo
We’re less than two weeks out from the Junior and 16U National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota! Wrestlers begin reporting to camp on July 9, and the first day of competition is July 12. Stream all of the action live on FloWrestling. Blogs will be posted online throughout the event.
National Duals
We once again want to congratulate our athletes, coaches and community on all of the Team Wisconsin performances at National Duals! One of the things that sets Wisconsin apart at National Duals is the culture of wrestling for each other and the team. That heart was on display in every age group.
As we shared last time, the 16U Freestyle team made history claiming the title in Utah, 16U Greco powered into the finals to place 2nd in the national. In Pennsylvania, the 14U team put together two outstanding top 10 finishes, placing sixth and Greco and fourth and freestyle.
In women’s freestyle, the trio of teams competed in Indiana together for the first time. The 16U team claimed 2nd as the national runners up, Juniors as the national runners up, the determined Junior team claimed 3rd, and the 14U girls held strong for 6th. Finally, in Milwaukee, the Junior teams got to work. Greco placed 12th, followed by Freestyle Red in 4th and Freestyle Blue in 11th.
From State Chairperson Todd Schaaf:
“All of our National Team athletes represented Wisconsin incredibly well. It was a pleasure to watch our kids compete and experience the event here in Milwaukee. Hosting Junior Duals through 2028 is a privilege, and it takes a collective effort. Thank you to the teams, officials, volunteers, WWF Board members, families, and every single person involved. This event would not be possible without the time and talent of everyone who helps our athletes and the sport thrive in Wisconsin.”
WI x USA Wrestling Highlights
Two Wisconsin natives have secured their spots at the 2025 Senior World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, this September. Macey Kilty (65 kg) and Kylie Welker (76 kg) secured their spots on the U.S. Senior World Team with best-of-three wins at Final X in New Jersey. Both are previous Senior World medalists—Kilty with two and Welker with one.
Over the weekend at Kids Nationals in Iowa, 37 Wisconsin wrestlers earned All-American honors in Freestyle and Greco. Earning titles were Cameron Allen, Everrett Zeitler, and Dylan Sardina. Allen also claimed USA Wrestling’s prestigious Triple Crown after winning the 10U folkstyle title earlier this year and sweeping both the freestyle and Greco titles in Iowa.
Outside of Fargo, here are a few sanctioned events & camps in July:
We’re wishing everyone a safe and happy 4th of July—here’s to another great month of wrestling in Wisconsin!
