Fargo, N.D. – Junior Nationals continued this morning with men’s freestyle taking center stage for the next three days. Monday’s sessions featured intense preliminary rounds, Tuesday will set the quarterfinals and have 6 rounds of consolations, and then the quarters, semis, medal matches, and championship finals will be on Wednesday.

As we take a look at where Wisconsin is situated after a lot of tough wrestling in the first session, it’s a massive group of 43 that advanced.

Among that group are 25 standouts in the championship round of 32. This includes No. 1 seed Kellen Wolbert (138), Camden Rugg (113), Declan Koch (157), Tristan Steldt (175), and Haakon Peterson (144). Sullivan Ramos and Liam Crook have advanced at 165 pounds. Max Hay is in at 126, Liam Nietzel at 132, and so is Garrett Kawczynski at 215.

The number of WI wrestlers in the mix has set up three all-Wisconsin bouts in the championship round of 32. At 285, Cael Leisgang vs Makhi Rodgers and Nehemiah Lendobeja vs Tyson Martin, and then at 165 will be Syler Zdanczewski and Sullivan Ramos.

Eighteen more have advanced and are wrestling in the consolations. This includes 2024 16U finalist Hunter Stevens (144), Colton Weiler (150), Aidan Gruedenfelder (126), and Luke Driedric (285).

Meanwhile, 16U action is underway. Seventy-one athletes from Wisconsin are competing in the afternoon session, which runs from 4–9:30 p.m. Results for 16U will be updated following the session’s conclusion.

Also happening: The 61 kg Men’s Freestyle World Team Trials best-of-three series began just before the 16U session. High school phenom Jax Forrest defeated Vito Arujau in the packed stadium that boomed for the intense six minutes of world-class wrestling. Match 2 is set for 5 pm, with a third (if needed) scheduled 30 minutes after.

Wrestling continues Tuesday at 8 am for Juniors, and 3:00 pm for 16U. Here’s everyone who advanced to Tuesday:

Juniors - Rd of 32 & Cons Sub Rd of 32

JUNIORS - Cons Rd of 64
