WI x Team USA Highlights
In an exciting week of international wrestling, Wisconsin saw four wrestlers earn international medals. Cole and Connor Mirasola claimed World bronze medals at the U20 World Championships in Samokov, Bulgaria, contributing to Team USA’s men’s freestyle team title. As USA Wrestling highlighted, their achievement adds to the history books individually and together: “The Mirasola twins became just the second brother tandem in American wrestling history to medal at the same U20, Junior, or Espoir World Championships since Jimmy Carr won gold and Joe Carr won silver in 1973 in Miami Beach, Florida.”

Later in the week, Payton Jacobson and Mitchell Mesenbrink struck gold at the U23 Pan American Games in Asuncion, Paraguay. Looking ahead, Jacobson will join Alston Nutter at the Senior World Championships in Greco-Roman, while Kylie Welker and Macey Kilty will represent Team USA in women’s freestyle. The Senior World Championships take place in Croatia, beginning September 13.

The Season Ahead
From everyone at the WWF, we’re excited to take on the 2025-26 season! We look forward to building on last season’s momentum and continuing to provide opportunities that grow the sport across Wisconsin. Thank you for being part of the WWF and USA Wrestling—here’s to another great season of teamwork, competition and wrestling community!
