WWA Wrestling Clinic & Convention
The WWA fall convention is an excellent opportunity for coaches and wrestling leaders. This year’s event features clinicians Macey Kilty and J’den Cox, and an early bird session with Max Askren. We encourage wrestling leaders to explore the WWA site to learn more about the event and to get connected! Check out the convention info here.
WI x Team USA Highlights
Team USA just wrapped up the U23 World Championships in October, where Wisconsin athletes made history by bringing home medals in all three Olympic disciplines for the first time ever. Kylie Welker captured gold in Women’s Freestyle, Mitchell Mesenbrink earned Gold in Men’s Freestyle, Payton Jacobson brought home Bronze in Greco-Roman, and Max Ramberg competed in his first Greco-Roman World Championships. Their performances reflect years of dedication, community support, and growth. This milestone not only celebrates their individual excellence but also inspires the next generation of wrestlers across the state, showing that world-class success can start right here at home.
Wisconsin wrestlers were also in action last weekend in Iowa at the Brian Keck Memorial Preseason Nationals and Boys High School Showcase! Check out the complete list of wrestlers that hit the podium here.
Lastly, we want to recommend a watch as we head into the start of the season. FloWrestling’s most recent docuseries, “HAWKEYES: The First Season with Iowa Women’s Wrestling,” tells the story of college wrestling through the lens of the Hawkeyes lineup in that first year. It’s a three-part series where you get to meet the athletes and hear their powerful and inspiring stories—including that of Kylie Welker—as the program debuted and they hunted down a national title. If you have a membership, give it a watch! FloWrestling also just posted this list of documentaries to watch on women’s wrestling, if it leaves you feeling inspired.
As we move into the start of the WIAA high school season this month, we are wishing all of our members the best of luck!
