The 2016 USA Wrestling’s Preseason Nationals (Folkstyle Wrestling) Tournament is this coming up this weekend - November 5 & 6, 2016.  The tournament is located in Cedar Falls, Iowa – at the University of Northern Iowa - UNI Dome. The UNI Dome is the University of Northern Iowa’s indoor football stadium; which also nicely holds 26 full size wrestling mats. This event is providing live and/or archived video via Trackwrestling’s TrackCast – covering all 26 mats for the entire duration of the two-day tournament.

On Saturday, High School age wrestlers take to the mats. In 2015 there were 1389 wrestlers from 42 states in the high school age divisions.  For context, as of Monday, there were 2855 Wrestlers from 40 States represented with pre-registrations (amongst all divisions).

Last year, Wisconsin was represented very well with Jared Krattinger (Higher-Level Wrestling) was the 9-10th Grade - 170 lbs Champion and Jacob Raschka (Askren Wrestling Academy) was the Grades 11-12 195 lbs Champion.

11-12th Grade
106 lbs – Matt Anderson of AWA – 8th Place
113 lbs – Zach Szohr of Ringers – 6th Place
120 lbs – Kaleb Louis of Advance/Stoughton – 6th Place
138 lbs – Jaden Van Maanen of LAW – 4th Place
152 lbs – Shane Gantz of Higher Level WC – 6th Place
160 lbs – Seth Vosters of Freedom – 7th Place
160 lbs - Adam Bene of Slinger – 8th Place
182 lbs – Dylan Anderson of Hudson – 3rd Place
220 lbs – Wyatt Wells of Beaver Dam – 6th Place
285 lbs – Brendan Lillo of Columbus – 7th Place

Women’s High School
139 lbs - Destiny King of Pulaski - 4th Place
172 lbs - Morgan Lemke of De Soto -4th Place finisher

The Kids Age levels wrestle on Sunday which last year there was 1147 competitors from 41 states. There 4 age groups from 1st grade to 8th. Last year Wisconsin had 2 champions and 40 other All-Americans. The champions were Gage Coppock of Mosinee, 7-8th Grade - 144 lbs and AJ Smith of Slinger, 5-6th Grade – 105 lbs.

So far there are 1509 high school wrestlers pre-registered and online pre-registration is closed but they will be taking walk-ins Friday night at weigh-ins. There is no Saturday morning weigh-ins for high school age level. Kids age level weigh-in Saturday night and there are 1305 pre-registered at this time.
