Women's HS Folkstyle State Championships

2022 State Championships

The WIAA is hosting their first-ever Girls Folkstyle State Championships during the 2021-22 season. This is massive step forward for women's and girl's wrestling in the state of Wisconsin.

Important Information (2021)

The Wisconsin Wrestling Federation Women's High School Age Folkstyle State Tournament will be held on Sunday February 21st at the Thunderdome 1450 Summit Ave in Oconomowoc, WI

Open to any Women that are enrolled in the 2021 spring semester of High School and any eighth graders born in 2006 and are a resident of the State of Wisconsin.

Registration Fee is $25.00 This is a preregistration tournament only.  Wrestlers can register on-line at trackwrestling.com by Wednesday, February 17th, 2021.

Weight classes will be the 14 High School weight classes plus 96lbs.

In order to be allowed mat side to coach at this event, one must be a current USA Wrestling coach member and a copper coaches certification or higher. This will be enforced and this includes all parents, club coaches, etc.

Overview (2021)

Participants:

  • Open to any women that are enrolled in the 2020 spring semester of High School and any eighth graders born in 2005 and are a resident of the State of Wisconsin.

Schedule of Times:

Wednesday, March 4th, 2020

  • Last day to preregister for the tournament via trackwrestling.com

Sunday, March 8, 2020

  • Weigh-ins: 9:00 - 9:30 am
  • Wrestling begins at 10:00 am.

Weight Classes

  • 96, 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220, 285
  • Wrestlers may be blocked together as necessary to promote matches.

Wrestler Registration Fee

  • Registration Fee is $10.00

Registration and Weigh-Ins

  • All wrestlers must register and weigh-in by the time listed above  
  • Wrestlers must wear a singlet during weigh-ins.
  • The WWF will be enforcing the WIAA rules.
    • Female wrestlers must meet skin / nail / hair standards.
    • If a wrestler’s hair is too long, a hair bonnet is required.
  • The WIAA mouth guard rule will be enforced for wrestlers with braces. 
  • Wrestlers must wear a female-cut singlet or wear an approved undergarment underneath their singlet.
  • The use of protective headgear of a type required for scholastic wrestling is required.

Mat Side Coaching USA Coaching Card Requirement

  • In order to be allowed mat side to coach at this event, one must be a current USA Wrestling coach member (specifically Copper Certification or higher). This also includes parents, club coaches, etc.
  • Individuals 18 years of age and older must successfully complete a mandatory background check before purchasing USA Wrestling coaches membership. Please allow 7-10 business days for the background check process, as USA Wrestling coach’s memberships will not be available on-site.
  • All USA Wrestling member coaches will receive free admission to this event. You must show you current coach’s card and id at the door
