The 2025 WWF Beginners Freestyle and Greco State Championships will be on April 26th in D.C. Everest!

Registration, cost, schedule and weigh in procedures will be posted as it becomes available. 

 The WWF added a true beginners freestyle and Greco state tournament in 2023 and we are happy to continue growing the event! Wrestlers will be able to test out the Olympic styles of wrestling against competition with similar experience.

This event is for true beginners, and only open to wrestlers who have not competed in the WWF freestyle or Greco state championships in the past. The event lands the weekend before the Wisconsin state tournament so that athletes can join us in the Dells if they enjoyed competing in Freestyle/Greco.

Wrestlers may compete at the beginner's state championships for a maximum of two years. Age groups are 10U-Juniors in girls and boys freestyle, and Greco-Roman. 

All coaches must have a current USA Wrestling Leaders membership and a minimum copper coaches certification. This includes parents, club coaches, etc. Individuals 18 years of age and older must successfully complete a mandatory background check before purchasing USA Wrestling Leaders Membership. Please allow 7-10 business days for the background check process, as USA Wrestling Leaders Memberships will not be available on-site.

All USA Wrestling Leaders Members will receive free admission to the WWF State Freestyle and Greco Tournaments.

The WWF will partner with the hosts of local events to run freestyle and Greco technique sessions again this season to highlight the Olympic styles, and to share more about the opportunities for our athletes within the WWF FS & GR programs! Stay tuned for dates and information.
