The spring season offers a wide variety of high caliber national competitions for our wrestlers, including Dominate in the Dells (Folkstyle), Folkstyle Nationals, the U.S. Open (freestyle and Greco), Northern Plains Regional Championships, and the WWF’s Wisconsin Freestyle and Greco State Championships. Team Wisconsin will travel together and compete nationally at 14U, 16U and Junior National Duals, and at the 16U and Junior National Championships (Fargo).

WWF Clinics Leading up to Freestyle and Greco State
The WWF is partnering with the hosts of three local events to run freestyle and Greco technique sessions again this season to highlight the Olympic styles, and to share more about the opportunities for our athletes within the WWF FS & GR programs! These clinics are open to all attendees of the events and are a great opportunity for younger athletes to get exposed to the W WF head coaches.

• Clinic with Junior Freestyle Head Coach Nick Becker - April 13th at the Mukwonago Freestyle/Greco Tournament in Mukwonago. 
• Clinic with Junior Greco Head Coach Ty Pelot - April 14th at the Go Big or Go Home Freestyle & Greco tournament in Green Bay.
• Clinic with 16U Freestyle Head Coach Newton Smerchek - April 20th at Sparta Two-Style Challenge in Sparta.

The gear store is closed for the first round of orders. Orders will be delivered approximately the first week(end) of April. The online store will re-open after the WWF Freestyle and Greco State Championships in May.

FARGO ATHLETES: We have new singlets for 2024! Athletes are responsible for purchasing the Team Wisconsin uniform package (minimum red and blue singlet). Wrestlers on the National Team who do not wish to purchase a new set of singlets may use a generic reversible singlet offered by the WWF coaching staff. Singlets from prior years may not be used at Fargo.

16U National Duals, June 11th-15th in Herriman, Utah
National Duals are age-level USA Wrestling events featuring some of the best competition on teams from across the country. The 16U National Dual team will compete in Herriman, Utah, June 11th-16th. 

The MFS and GR 16U National Dual Team is determined by the highest placer at freestyle and Greco state. Wisconsin will bring one team for each freestyle and Greco this season. Cost: $625.

The Junior & 16U National Championships will be July 12-20 in Fargo, ND.

The WWF is able to bring four (4) athletes per weight class for the MFS and GR programs. To qualify for the Wisconsin National Team, wrestlers must auto-qualify nationally (opportunities listed below), place top three at the 2024 WWF Freestyle/Greco State Championships (same weight and style), or win a wrestle-off at the pre-Fargo camps in River Falls. A minimum of one wrestle-off spot is reserved at each weight class per age group and style. Since national auto-qualifiers do not count against the allotted number the state can bring, any auto-qualified wrestler that places in the top three at WWF freestyle/Greco state opens up an additional wrestle-off spot at camp.

Auto-qualifier opportunities:

• Current year 1st-6th Place at USA Wrestling Regionals (placement must be in the same age and style)
• Current year 1st-8th Place at U15 Nationals (placement must be in the same style)
• Current year 1st-8th Place at U17 Nationals (placement must be in the same style)
• Current year 1st-8th Place at U20 Nationals (placement must be in the same style)
• Previous year 1st-8th Place at Junior Nationals (placement must be in the same style)
• Previous year 1st-8th Place at 16U Nationals (placement must be in the same style)
• Previous year age-level World Team member (must be in the same style)

Cost & Registration: Freestyle or Greco (1 style) $525. Both styles $670. Athlete fees will cover hotel, transportation and registration. The cost does NOT include the uniform package/singlets. Registration will open in May.

July 15-17 16U MFS compete at Fargo

16U GR
