July Highlights and Key Dates

Our big highlights for July are centered on Fargo, and Wisconsin athletes representing Team USA!

16U and Junior National Championships (Fargo)
We’re just a few weeks out from competition. Team Wisconsin is comprised of more than 200 athletes competing in the 16U and Junior divisions for men’s freestyle, women’s freestyle and Greco-Roman. Wrestlers begin reporting to camp in River Falls on July 12th, with competition starting Saturday, July 15th. Preliminary rosters have been set and can be viewed 
here. Please note the roster will change after wrestle-offs. Final details were covered in the last monthly meeting. Notes and complete replay are posted here.

U15 Pan Am Team Trials
The 
U15 Pan American Team Trials event has been scheduled for August 12th-13th at the Air Force Academy in Colorado. The champion in each of the girls weight classes and the boys with the highest point value (both styles combined) will earn the right to compete at the 2023 U15 Pan American Championships in Panama City, November 23-26. Athletes must qualify to compete.

Sanctioned Events in WI

WI x Team USA Highlights
Carley Ceshker won a gold medal at the U17 Pan-Ams in Mexico City! Ceshker, who won five matches, was awarded the Golden Boot as the outstanding wrestler of the event. U20 Pan Ams continue this week in Santiago, Chile. Mitchell Mesenbrink (MFS 74kg) and Kylie Welker (WFS 76kg) will represent the United States in men’s and women’s freestyle. Mesenbrink, who will also compete at the U20 World Championships, won the US Open and World Team Trials events. Welker earned her spot by placing 2nd at the U20 World Team Trials in Spokane. To wrap up the month Aeoden Sinclair (92kg) will represent Team USA at the U17 World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, which runs July 31-August 6th. The 92kg weight class in freestyle begins August 5th.
