July was a huge month for Wisconsin wrestling. 38 wrestlers earned All-American status at USA Wrestling’s Junior and 16U National Championships, including six champions and four runners-up. Those champions were Haakon Peterson (JR MFS 106), Braeden Scoles (JR MFS 160), Noah Mulvaney (JR MFS 170), Connor Mirasola (JR MFS 195), Koy Hopke (JR MFS 285) and Ashton Miess (JR GR 160). Junior men’s freestyle tied the national record for most junior champions in a single year and had the best team result in Wisconsin history with their 2nd place finish overall. All six Wisconsin teams placed in the top 10. Links to Fargo blogs: All-American SummaryDay 1 WFSDay 2 WFSDay 3 MFSDay 4 MFSDay 5 MFSDay 6 GRDay 7 GR.

From State Chairperson Todd Schaaf: This has been an extremely great time for the state of Wisconsin. I want to express my congratulations to our athletes. It has been incredible to watch all your hard work pay off. I want to say thank you to the entire delegation that supports our mission. Wisconsin is represented in all areas of wrestling in Fargo by our athletes and coaches, officials, pairers, volunteers and media among others in official roles. Thank you all so much for your commitment and contribution to the success and growth of Wisconsin wrestling. A special congratulations to Casey and Cody Goessl—Casey was awarded the 2023 Dave Errett Award, and Cody was awarded the 2023 Bill Stecklein Award. I look forward to finishing the 2022-23 season strong with you all and to carrying this momentum into next season.
