February Highlights and Key Dates

Shoutout to all the wrestlers who laced up and competed at Kids Nationals last weekend in Indiana! Wisconsin had five wrestlers crowned champions—Benjamin Spalla, Kade Splinter, Ian Weber, Ariana Schacht and Kiah Dukes.

Below are key highlights for February, including sanctioned events, coaching credential information for Kids State and the Qualifiers, details on upcoming informational Zoom calls, and the link to review USA Wrestling’s team selection criteria for 2024.

Sanctioned Events in WI (current Feb. & Mar.)

 

WWF Kids State Qualifiers and State Championships
The top three wrestlers in each age group and division at the Kids State Qualifiers (March 16th) qualify to compete at the 
WWF Kids Folkstyle State Championships at the Alliant Energy Center March 22nd-24th.

  • Coaching Credentials at Qualifiers: A current USA Wrestling Leaders membership is required to be matside at the WWF Kids State Qualifiers on March 16th— this includes parents, club coaches, etc. Please allow 7-10 business days for the background check process, as USA Wrestling Leaders Memberships will not be available on-site.
  • Coaching Credentials at State: A current USA Wrestling Leaders membership and a Copper Coaches Certification or higher is required to be matside at the Kids State Championships— this includes parents, club coaches, etc. Please allow 7-10 business days for the background check process, as USA Wrestling Leaders Memberships will not be available on-site.
  • Table Workers: The WWF is looking for clubs or individuals to work mat side tables keeping score at the WWF Kids Folkstyle State Championships March 22nd-24th at the Alliant Center in Madison, WI. The pay is $150 per table per day on Friday and Saturday and $125 on Sunday. Interested parties should contact Jeff Jones at jeffjones99@att.net.

 

Upcoming Informational Zoom Calls
Informational Zoom calls are back! Join us online February 21st at 7PM for our first call of the season, which will focus on need-to-know information/answering your questions for the WWF Kids Folkstyle State Qualifiers and the Kids Folkstyle State Tournament.

WFS Camp Series
We had an awesome turnout at our January WFS camp last weekend at Shiocton! This was our 5th camp of the season. We will break for the month of February, but stay tuned for details on the March camp opportunity!

Team USA Selection Process
USA Wrestling has released 2024 qualifying procedures for the men’s and women’s Pan American and World Teams. Read through the details for each age group and division

WI x USA Wrestling Highlights
Five Wisconsin athletes claimed titles at Kids Nationals last weekend in Indiana! Benjamin Spalla of B.A.M. Training Center (14U, 114), Kade Splinter of Team Nazar Training Center (14U, 187), Ian Weber of Ringers Wrestling Club (12U, 67), Ariana Schacht of X-Factor Elite Wrestling (12U, 102-112) and Kiah Dukes of B.A.M. Training Center (8U, 55). All-Americans by age group are listed 
here. Congrats to everyone who laced up last weekend!

This weekend Macey Kilty will compete in USA Wrestling’s wrestle-offs for the Pan American Olympic Games Qualifier tournament at 62kg. The winner of Kilty vs. Jennifer Page will challenge Kayla Miracle to compete at the Pan American Olympic Games Qualifier in Acapulco, Mexico, February 28 – March 1, 2024. The 62kg weight class is yet to be qualified for the Olympics. Details and schedule are posted by USA Wrestling here.
