We’re still at the very beginning of a brand-new season! The WWF annual meeting is in two weeks, our women’s freestyle camp series is underway and membership renewals are happening now—October highlights and key dates are below.

The Annual Meeting of Members is scheduled for Sunday, October 15th at The Lodge in Mauston. This is an open meeting where members will hear from WWF State Chairperson, Todd Schaaf, and multiple other directors with their year-in-review and highlights for the upcoming season. Up for vote this year are the positions of at-large directors. For more information on the WWF team, please visit us online here. Please note that voting members are required to have a current USA Wrestling Leader membership.

VOTING at the Annual Meeting: Per bylaw 2.4: “VOTING BY MEMBERS - Nominations shall be made prior to elections. The results of votes shall be shared once tallied. At the Annual Meeting of Members, each USA Wrestling chartered club in Wisconsin as of the date of the meeting shall be entitled to one vote if the minimum membership requirement is met.” Please read here for the membership requirement distribution and complete bylaw for voting.

Membership Renewals and Education

• Individual Athletes and Leaders: All individual memberships must be renewed on a yearly basis. Visit the USAW membership system to renew yours today. Please note: leaders may need to go through a SafeSport refresher course and/or background check during renewal. We recommend doing this immediately to ensure you are ready for the season. • High School Teams: USA Wrestling presents an annual opportunity for high school teams to purchase memberships for their entire team for $500. Teams will receive unlimited athlete memberships for the season and an official USA Wrestling Club Charter among other benefits. Check out the details here.
• Teal Course: USA Wrestling and Wrestle Like A Girl has launched a 2-hour online training to support the development of current and future coaches of girls and women's wrestling. This training is part of USA Wrestling’s National Coaches Education Program. Select here to learn more about the course and how to register.

WFS Camp Series
The October camp in our women’s freestyle series will be at AWA Green Bay on October 14th! This month’s discussion topic, “Choosing your best competition weight” will be led by Coach Mateah Roehl—you don’t want to miss it! These camps are open to all Wisconsin 14U, 16U, and Junior women with a USA Wrestling athlete membership and run from September to April at various locations. Select here for more information about the WFS program. Select here to register today!

Sanctioned Events in Wisconsin 
We already have a handful of USA Wrestling sanctioned events rolling in! You can sanction your event directly in the membership system (select here to learn more), or submit a completed application to sanction an event form to Sandy Russell.

• Oct. 15th - X-Elite Fall Kickoff, Green Bay WI
• Oct. 21st - 2023 WI Wrestle Fall Open, Mukwonago WI

District meetings were held in September. While discussions varied at each meeting, general agendas highlighted the dates for the 2024 spring season, coaching requirements, and changes for the Kids State Championships. WI x Team USA Highlights
Macey Kilty and Brady Koontz competed at their first Senior World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia last month! Kilty earned a silver medal with a standout 4-1 performance, including three techs and a fall before falling to Japan’s Nonoka Ozaki in the 65kg finals. Koontz went 1-1 with a 7-3 win over Hyeokjin Jeon of Korea before falling to Denis Mihai of Romania by tech fall 9-0.

The U23 World Championships begin October 23rd in Tirana, Albania. Wisconsin natives stepping onto the world stage are Alisha Howk, Macey Kilty, Payton Jacobson, and Keegan O'Toole. A complete schedule by UWW is posted here.
